BREEDERS CROWN 2018

Four Lauriston horses competed in the Breeders Crown Finals on August 25. 

HURRICANE HARLEY won the 2 year old Colts and geldings 2 year old Final. Little separated the favourite Centenario at $2.40 and Harley at $2.60. Centenario led from Barrier 4 and Harley landed in the running line from 5. He was forced to make two runs in the race to sit within striking distance of the favourite on the home turn. Harley produced an amazing run to defeat Centenario by 1.5 metres in 1.55.8. Hurricane Harley has had 9 starts for 7 wins and one placing and made a clean sweep of the Breedrs Crown winning his Heat, Semi and Final . Prizemoney of $246,490
 By the supersire Bettors Delight, he is the 3rd foal of the Christian Cullen mare Sugarland and gives her a Group1 winner.

SPEAK NO EVIL won the 3 year old fillies Final in the fastest time of the night ; 1.54. Leading from Barrier 5 she withstood the pressure from Our Angel Of Harlem to score by 2.7 metres. 
The win caps off an amazing season for the daughter of Well Said . She had her first start in January 2018 and has won $244,810 with 15 starts for 12 wins, a second in the Vic Oaks and 2 GR1 victories  adding another to the record of the great producer Top Tempo. Speak No Evil completed a clean sweep of both the Vicbred Sires Stakes Series and the Breeders Crown Heat , Semi and Final.

PISTOL ABBEY also contested the Final and finished 6th. She could not get into the race from Barrier 10 but won both her heat and semi of the Breeders Crown. 

POSTER BOY found Ride High too strong on the night in the 3 year old colts and geldings Final. Poster Boy was in the running line from Barrier 9 but Ride High took the lead early and controlled the race from there. Poster Boy ran a good third and finished the season with 2 Gr1 wins ; NSW Derby and the Vicbred SS. His outstanding record is ; 22 starts 15 wins and 6 placings $479,990.
