BREEDERS CROWN 2018

Four Lauriston horses competed in the Breeders Crown Finals on August 25. 

HURRICANE HARLEY won the 2 year old Colts and geldings 2 year old Final. Little separated the favourite Centenario at $2.40 and Harley at $2.60. Centenario led from Barrier 4 and Harley landed in the running line from 5. He was forced to make two runs in the race to sit within striking distance of the favourite on the home turn. Harley produced an amazing run to defeat Centenario by 1.5 metres in 1.55.8. Hurricane Harley has had 9 starts for 7 wins and one placing and made a clean sweep of the Breedrs Crown winning his Heat, Semi and Final . Prizemoney of $246,490
 By the supersire Bettors Delight, he is the 3rd foal of the Christian Cullen mare Sugarland and gives her a Group1 winner.

SPEAK NO EVIL won the 3 year old fillies Final in the fastest time of the night ; 1.54. Leading from Barrier 5 she withstood the pressure from Our Angel Of Harlem to score by 2.7 metres. 
The win caps off an amazing season for the daughter of Well Said . She had her first start in January 2018 and has won $244,810 with 15 starts for 12 wins, a second in the Vic Oaks and 2 GR1 victories  adding another to the record of the great producer Top Tempo. Speak No Evil completed a clean sweep of both the Vicbred Sires Stakes Series and the Breeders Crown Heat , Semi and Final.

PISTOL ABBEY also contested the Final and finished 6th. She could not get into the race from Barrier 10 but won both her heat and semi of the Breeders Crown. 

POSTER BOY found Ride High too strong on the night in the 3 year old colts and geldings Final. Poster Boy was in the running line from Barrier 9 but Ride High took the lead early and controlled the race from there. Poster Boy ran a good third and finished the season with 2 Gr1 wins ; NSW Derby and the Vicbred SS. His outstanding record is ; 22 starts 15 wins and 6 placings $479,990.

The Breeders Crown Semi Finals were held at Bendigo and Lauriston horses again re-wrote the record books. 
Pistol Abbey won the first semi final for 3 year old fillies defeating Soho Burning Love and My Harmony Blue. Abbey's time for the 2150M was 1.56.7 . She has drawn 10 in the Final.

The second semi for 3 year old fillies was won by Speak No Evil leading all the way in a very slick 1.55.2. She now has the great record of 14 starts for 11 wins and 1 second. She has Barrier 5 in the final.

Poster Boy defeated Ignatius in a Track Record 1.54.2. in the 3 year old Colts and Geldings Semi after racing 3 wide for the last 800 Metres. He will begin from Barrier 9 in the Final.

Hurricane Harley was impressive in winning his 2 year old Semi by 8.6 Metres in 1.56.4.and starts from Barrier 5 in the Final.

Breeders crown heats

The Breeders Crown Heats for the 2 year old boys were held at Kilmore on August 8.
Hurricane Harley ( Bettors Delight - Sugarland ) won his heat by 2.1 metres with a devastating turn of foot  in 1.58.4 for the 2280 metres. He is lightly raced with 7 starts for 5 wins and 1 placing and prize money of $91,490. 
The 3 year old fillies heats were held at Shepparton the following night and 2 Lauriston runners were engaged. 
Pistol Abbey ( Western Terror- Art Princess ) having her first start for 6 months, sat behind the leader and used the sprint lane to win convincingly by 6.8 metres in 1.57.7. Her record stands at 11-3-2-2 , $51,990 and a best time of 1.56.3. Abbey was an APG yearling purchase by Lauriston. 
Speak No Evil ( Well Said - Top Tempo ) completed the fillies double for Lauriston leading all the way to win her heat in 1.59.9 by 7.6 metres. She boasts a very impressive record of 13-10-1 ,an excellent mile rate of 1.52.4 and stakes of $137,310 . 
The Heats for the 3 year old Colts and Geldings were at Bendigo on August 10, where Poster Boy  Somebeachsomewhere _ Aston Villa ) was engaged. He drew Barrier 9 and once the field settled took the lead and won by 4.4 metres in a very fast 1.54.7 . This was .1 of a second outside the track record for the 2150m . 
It was a week to remember and all 4 horses advance to the Semi Finals on Saturday August 18 at Bendigo .
