Saturday Feb 7 was a big night for Aston Villa and her 2 boys; full brothers Yankee Rockstar and Born To Rocknroll.
Yankee Rockstar was the first to race @ Melton in the Group 3 Bonanza. He drew Barrier 1 and was fast off the arm and although pressured was able to hold the lead in a quick first quarter of 27.6. He led all the way to win in a mile rate of 1.52.4 for 1720m.
His win earned him an invitation to the Chariots of Fire @ Menangle. He has an imposing record of 18 starts 14 wins 2 seconds and 1 third. $ 111,920.
20 minutes later his 2 year old full brother Born To Rocknroll stepped onto the Menangle track for his first race start. It was in the $40,800 Group 3 NSW Sapling Stakes.
With quarters of 26.6, 27.8, 28.3 and 28.9 , overall time 1.53.6 he acquitted himself exceptionally well . He finished the race off full of running to dead heat for second , beaten a short half head for first.
Team McCarthy were quite excited by his performance and expect further natural improvement.
