CRANBOURNE cup night out

5/3/2016

Lauriston had 3 starters at Cranbourne Cup Night on March 5. Incredibly all 3 won !

QUEEN OF POP ( Top Tempo ) driven agressively  by Chris Alford in a $10,325 heat of the Platinum Mares Sprint began quickly from Barrier 6 to take the lead before handing up to Nikki No No. She then used the sprint lane to score by a head in 1.58.1. She has had 17 starts for 7-3-2 and $187,160.

YANKEE ROCKSTAR ( Aston Villa ) claimed his first Group 1 victory in the $100,00 Cranbourne  Gold Cup. Perfectly driven by Gavin Lang the Rockstar began from Barrier 10 and made a forward move after a lap to sit outside Messini . He surged to the lead close to the post to hold off I'm Corzin Terror to win by 1.5 metres in 2.01.5 for the 2555 metres. It was a well deserved win for the Rockstar after winning the Stawell Cup in record time, 3rd in the Shepparton Cup and a huge run for 4th in the Hunter Cup. He has an impressive record of 30 starts 21-2-4 , mile rate of 1.52.2 $276,500 and is trained by Emma Stewart .

OUR LITTLE GENERAL . ( Kabbalah Karen B ) is another Lauriston horse trained by Emma Stewart and driven by Chris Alford. The two year old colt was victorious in  the $20,000 Sapling Stakes . He tended to over race early and Chris Alford elected to take the position outside the leader. After a brief tussle in the straight Our Little General came away to win by 3.2 metres. He shows high speed and rapid acceleration and from 3 starts has 2 wins and a second, a best time of 1.55.8 and stakes of $29,550.
