Performances of note in the heats were Poster Boy 's win in the 2 year oid heat at Bendigo and Rocknroll Icon in his heat win at Kilmore. After a very quick lead time of 40.5 Chis Alford sent the Icon 3 wide in search of the lead. He won convincingly by 10.6 metres in 1.58.1 and is a special horse. Rocknroll Icon was an orphan foal and has on going nutritional needs which must be met and monitored to maintain peak fitness.
